Capstone: apply the complete workflow
Learning objectives
- Combine the program’s principles in one complete fictional workflow.
- Produce a concise handoff or decision record.
- Identify a personal improvement before attempting the final exam.
The capstone brings the program together. You will review administrative decisions and keep cross-department operations consistent, keep a usable fictional record, and explain how you would handle a change before the handoff. This is a self-directed practice activity. Completing it prepares you for the knowledge examination; it is not a claim that an instructor has observed or certified your practical performance.
Part 1 — establish the assignment
Use the first scenario as the opening situation: Two administrators apply different versions of a role-selection policy.
Write your opening message as a senior hospital administrator. Identify the purpose of the scene, what you already know, and what you still need to clarify. Explain your assigned responsibility and identify any decision that belongs to another player. Do not skip the opening just because you think the expected answer is obvious; the other participants need to understand the same starting point.
Part 2 — respond to a change
Introduce the complication from the second scenario: You are asked to review a complaint about a decision you personally made.
Explain which part of the earlier agreement is affected and what action you will pause, change, or clarify. Your response should distinguish the information available before the change from the information established afterward. If someone is relying on an earlier version, include the message you would send to correct their understanding.
Part 3 — document and transfer
Create a short record using the structure introduced in the documentation module. Identify the current situation, completed action, remaining uncertainty, and receiving owner. Then write the receiving player’s acknowledgment so you can test whether your request is clear. If you cannot write a believable acknowledgment without adding missing information, revise the handoff.
Finish with a short review of your work. Name one choice you made well, one uncertainty you handled explicitly, and one improvement you would make in another attempt. Keep the review tied to observable behavior instead of giving yourself a general rating with no explanation.
Readiness for the examination
Review every module and complete the required prerequisite credentials before starting the exam. Answer according to the MHCLP fictional workflow taught here, using the facts supplied in each question. License exams contain 20 questions and certification exams contain 10. The pass mark is 80%. An unsuccessful attempt requires a ten-minute review period before a retake. Passing produces a verifiable program credential, not a real-world medical license or an automatic game staff appointment.
Build an evidence portfolio for your capstone
Your capstone deliverable is: A decision brief showing the applicable rule, evidence, decision owner, communication, and follow-up. Create four short pieces of work: the opening exchange, the decision explanation, the current record, and the closing or handoff message. Keep them consistent. If the record says the next owner has accepted, the exchange should include that acknowledgment. If a detail remains uncertain, your final message should not imply it has been settled.
Use these criteria when reviewing the work: Use the correct authority and published criteria. Separate established facts from claims and uncertainty. Explain a proportionate decision and its consequences. Assign follow-up and communicate the current outcome. Give yourself one concrete example supporting each criterion. Where the example is missing, revise that part of the response. A title, rank, or confident tone earns no credit by itself because it does not demonstrate the decision process.
Ask whether a new participant could continue from your final record without reconstructing the entire conversation. If not, identify the missing information and add it. This portfolio stays in your own notes; the site does not upload, store, or instructor-grade it. The formal credential comes from the separate knowledge examination.
Make the next decision
A temporary staffing exception has been reused for weeks without review.
Reveal the model response & reasoning
Response: Review the continuing need, confirm authority, and either end it or approve a documented policy change.
Why: Repeated exceptions can become an unacknowledged replacement for the published rule.
Independent practice
Write a complete capstone response of 200–300 words. Include an opening, a clarification, an action, a record, a handoff acknowledgment, and a short reflection. Use fictional characters only.
Write your response in your own notes before reading on. Compare the action you chose, the information you preserved, and who owns the next step with the worked example. This practice is self-reviewed and is not submitted for marking.
Before you continue
- Does your response address the actual situation supplied?
- Can you explain every important action in terms of the program’s standards?
- Are you ready to answer a new scenario without copying the worked example?
Check your understanding
Practice does not affect your exam score or issue a credential.
